Project Dear Neighbor
Orange County, California

Warm clothing and a kind word for neighbors in need.

We collect clothing for people experiencing homelessness and tuck a handwritten note of encouragement into the pocket of every piece we give.

Dear Neighbor,You are not invisible to me. I hope today is kind to you.

Our story

Why a note in the pocket?

We are seven friends in Orange County who wanted to do something real for people we pass in our own community. Clothing was the clearest need, so we started with clothing drives.

Then we asked what else a coat could carry. A handwritten note costs almost nothing, but finding one in a pocket is a small surprise that says someone thought of you. Every note starts the same way, with the words "Dear Neighbor," because that is who we believe is reading it.

Our mission: to give warm clothing and a kind word to neighbors who need both, so no one feels unseen.

How it works

From a closet to a pocket to a neighbor

01

We collect clothes

Clean, warm clothing comes in through our drives. Anything with a pocket is perfect.

02

We write the notes

Each note is handwritten, starts with "Dear Neighbor," and shares a few encouraging words.

03

We deliver through local shelters

Shelters know their communities best, so we partner with them to reach people who need it.
